Description

As the organizer and conductor of a 2-month AI Governance course, I had the chance to cover topics such as social resilience, geopolitical dependencies, and safety frameworks in the emergence of transformative AI systems. The course content follows the structure of BlueDot’s ‘Fundamentals of AI Safety’ reading seminar and discusses a wide spectrum of socioeconomic dynamics associated with frontier AI. This includes a reflection upon (1) the anticipations and aspirations that drive the pursuit of artificial general intelligence, (2) the social, economic, and environmental burden associated with both the development and deployment of frontier AI, (3) the system dynamics that shape geopolitical relations and government decisions, (4) the resilience and limitations of existing national and intergovernmental regulatory frameworks, and (5) proposals to govern the adaptation and mitigate the risk the of future systems. The course was held in collaboration with Tutke, the Finnish Center for Safe AI. In addition to teaching responsibilities, this role includes mentoring, networking, and outreach.
