DescriptionManufacturing industries have huge opportunities to benefit from digital means that change the way we design materials, products, manufacturing and production systems. VTT ProperTune™, a computational environment and methology for material design, tailoring and performance, can parse massive amounts of data to virtually model and analyse behavior on component, microstructural and atomic scales. It is used to design for manufacturing and to optimise a wide variety of material properties such as lifetime endurance, wear and corrosion resistance, and fracture and fatigue durability. Examples of multiscale modelling of materials and design for additive manufacturing are given. The benefits (cost savings, time to market, performance) of using integrated computational engineering will be highlighted. We also share our visions for manufacturing in digitalized era.
