Description

VTT has developed and tested a novel method for producing ultra-pure CNF. This method integrates chemical-free purification of the initial raw material and the pre-refining of the kraft pulp by using a new modified hydrothermal treatment (HT) as a pre-treatment method for the nanocellulose production. Fibrillation time can be decreased significantly compared to a non-pretreated pulp.
