Research interests

Miguel Bordallo is a Senior Scientist at VTT Data-Driven Life group. He studied for a Bachelor's degree in Telecommunication Engineering at the Technical University of Madrid, Spain. He received his Master's and Doctoral degrees from the University of Oulu in 2010 and 2014 respectively. Already in 2006, he joined the Center for Machine Vision and Signal Analysis at the University of Oulu where he currently holds the title of Docent in Real-time Imaging-based Sensing. He has been teaching undergraduate courses on digital signal processing and multiprocessor programming. His current research interests include embedded AI, image-based real-time sensing, thermal imaging, vision-based vital sign monitoring, computer vision for healthcare, multimodal mobile user interfaces, GP-GPU computing and energy efficient embedded computer vision. He has authored more than 30 scientific publications. He is an Associate Editor at the Journal for Real-Time Image Processing and a 2017 Nokia Bell Labs Prize finalist.
