The target of 4everPack is to increase the amount of reusable packaging solutions in FMCG market. At the moment huge amounts of especially plastic materials get discarded and their value is lost in the taka-make-dispose linear business. Simultaneously, part of the discarded materials often escapes the systems causing huge environmental problems especially when they end up in nature. 4everPack will stop the plastic pollution and wasting of natural resources by creating a system where packaging cycles over and over again in controlled, tracked, efficient and fully circular manner.
To achieve this, 4everPack covers the future value chain of reusable packaging with the ecosystem formed around it. Ecosystem partners are companies highly interested to explore and reveal the full potential of reuse. In the ecosystem, Borealis, Brightplus and MetsäBoard will cover the area of packaging material production. Berner, Kiilto and Kotipizza will bring the reusable packaging together with their consumer products. Kesko and S-Group support the ecosystem with their retail and horeca environments, logistic systems, collection locations and with their own products. The city of Helsinki and HUS provide their hospital catering as potential future market for reuse applications. Upcode and Nordic ID supplies the ecosystem with alternative methods to individualize, monitor and track reusable packaging. Kamupak provides the platform for managing reusable packaging and Tomra covers the area of reverse vending machines and washing lines where Kiilto contribute with their detergents.
As a forerunner in innovations, solutions and materials for packaging, Finland has a great opportunity to take a leading position in the emerging field of reuse. With the support of active Finnish packaging stakeholders, 4everPack consortium is able to create worth 1b€ export to Finland over the next 10 years.
