Eye sensing based AD monitoring for everyday life

Project: Research Council of Finland

Project Details

Description

Head area sensing is reaching a technical level that enables the estimation of visual perception and the context of a freely moving person in everyday life, providing the long-awaited link between the brain and the visual environment. Perception is an active cognitive process through which we form our understanding of the complex and dynamic world around us. Particularly, visual perception has a crucial role in understanding our surroundings and interacting with the environment effectively. Thus, eyes can provide valuable information about diverse underlying changes in the brain, and can be utilized e.g., in the early diagnosis neurological diseases. Because visual perception is tightly linked to the world around us, modelling of the changes in brain functions in everyday scenarios and in diseases proves to be a challenging task. In this project, we will harness the state-of-the-art artificial intelligence (AI) methods to execute the modelling and estimation.
