Metrology for comparable and trustworthy greenhouse gas remote sensing datasets

Project: EU project

Project Details

Description

Ensuring SI traceability for satellite-derived greenhouse gas data

Satellite remote sensing of global greenhouse gas (GHG) concentrations provides invaluable information about GHG sources and sinks, supporting efficient climate mitigation policies. Recently, the accuracy targets of upcoming GHG satellite missions have become increasingly stringent.

Project aims to significantly enhance the accuracy of underlying spectral line parameters for satellite GHG retrievals and validate this accuracy using in situ and ground-based observations.

VTT MIKES designs an optimal absolute absorption spectroscopy setup based on the existing TDLAS setup to measure accurate spectral line data of the O2 A-band including information on the collision-induced absorption background in relevant conditions.
