Metrology for the next-generation digital substation instrumentation

Project: EU project

Project Details

Description

Calibration methods for digital hardware used in next-generation power transmission and distribution.

Electrical power industry is facing significant technical challenges as fossil fuels are replaced by more widely distributed and less predictable renewable energy sources.

Project develops calibration and timing methods for the new digital hardware used in power transmission and distribution networks.

VTT MIKES builds a setup for testing instrument transformers with digital outputs and studies satellite-independent means of reference timing distribution to substations in grids.
