Project: Finnish government project

Project Details

Description

The objective of the MAITE study was to predict the "risk of excessive service use" at early stage - well before the start of intensive home care or admission to elderly home. In particular, the goal was to develop a data-driven model to identify risk groups, which could be invited for preventive light-weight interventions designed to avoid accumulation of social and health related problems. For constructing the model we used retrospective patient and customer data recorded in a public social and health services setting in Finland.

Key findings

The MAITE project achieved its important goal of producing an overall view of the development of prediction models for use in social welfare and health care services. The demonstration carried out in the project made it possible to illustrate the model to relevant professionals. It provided valuable feedback for further development.
