In GOVERMAT, VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland Ltd, University of Eastern Finland, Aalto University and University of Oulu join forces into a unique multi-disciplinary team providing new insights into the CE of CRMs included in battery materials, electronic components and high-performance magnets. GOVERMAT aims to identify the means and actions by which city regions can influence, promote and boost the sustainable supply of raw materials essential for electric mobility. Via cities, and extending to national and global levels, both public and private stakeholders are linked with materials flows by defining the operation environment (regulations, incentives, agreements, business models). The project will provide new information about their links, characteristics of material flows, their future development and sustainable CE process concepts. Kokkola and Pori-Harjavalta that have concluded ecosystem agreements with the state for advancing CE act as benchmark cities.
