Project Details
Description
The TimeZero project, part of ChipZero Veturi will create new business in Finland by building a Finnish ecosystem around high performance timing systems. The consortium consists of 5 companies and 3 research organisations throughout the value chain from materials to end users.
TimeZero will develop technology to enable MEMS timing & frequency reference devices with unprecedented levels of stability, small size, and low power consumption, which in turn enable applications with superior performance. Within the project, end applications in focus are distributed sensors systems for defence, radars, and revolutionary terrestrial radio positioning systems, but the timing technology is a for a key enabling element for future radio systems (5G advanced & 6G) and telecom networks improving performance and reducing power consumption.
The performance improvements in timing will be achieved by improving materials from wafers via the MEMS resonators in the heart of timing to packaging technology.
By developing high performance, small size, and low power consumption timing devices which are manufactured by optimised microelectronics manufacturing processes, small foot print of manufacturing and large hand-print of systems using them are achieved.
