Description
Reliable measurements to help reduce emissions from livestock farming
The EU agricultural sector significantly contributes to Europe’s anthropogenic emission; 93 % of ammonia (NH3) emissions, 48 % of methane (CH4) emissions and 72 % of nitrous oxide (N2O) emissions are a result of farming, which has a well-known impact on health, environment and climate. Currently, the complexity of emission measurements and the lack of full SI-traceability lead to unacceptably high uncertainties.
Project develops an SI-traceable field measurement infrastructure for more reliable quantification of livestock emissions to allow policy makers assessing and establishing efficient mitigations strategies.
VTT modifies and optimises its portable dynamic reference gas generator for NH3 and applies CRDS and FTIR analysers to measure gas concentrations (CH4, CO2, NH3 and N2O) inside and outside a dairy barn during boreal summer and winter seasons.
Call 2021: Metrology Support for the Green Deal
The project (21GRD10 quantiAGREMI) has received funding from the European Partnership on Metrology, co-financed from the European Union’s Horizon Europe Research and Innovation Programme and by the Participating States.
