Project Details
Description
The project focuses on inter-city collaboration in the development of photonics technology. Our goal is to establish a network and operational model between different cities that can effectively be utilized to promote innovation in photonics. The project is built on strong cooperation and knowledge-sharing among cities, which is an essential part of supporting the growth and success of the photonics industry.
The project also supports the development of Chip Act functions in partner cities, including Joensuu, Tampere, Oulu, and the Greater Helsinki area. Inter-city collaboration generates synergies, strengthens research environments, and enables more efficient use of resources.
The core of the project lies in five key work packages:
Work Package 1: Building a National Inter-City Cooperation Network
The aim is to strengthen the national cooperation network among different cities. This network brings together businesses, research institutions, and experts from different regions, creating synergies and advancing the development of the photonics industry. Business Joensuu is responsible for this work package.
Work Package 2: Increasing and Strengthening International Photonics Networks
Our project expands and strengthens inter-city collaboration on an international scale. This work package focuses on establishing strong connections with international stakeholders and facilitating global cooperation. BusinessTampere is in charge of implementing this work package.
Work Package 3: Developing a Communication Plan and Key Messages for Promoting Photonics
The project's benefits and achievements need to be effectively communicated. This work package centers on crafting a communication plan that clearly and persuasively conveys the significance of photonics and the benefits of collaboration. Business Joensuu is responsible for this work package.
Work Package 4: Preparation of Investment Processes
Inter-city collaboration provides a solid foundation for attracting investments to Finland. Our goal is to offer an attractive environment for the development of photonics, which will draw both domestic and international investments. Business Joensuu is responsible for this work package.
Work Package 5: Ensuring Flexible Access to Existing Research Infrastructure for Photonics Companies
Inter-city collaboration improves photonics companies' access to existing research infrastructure. This support promotes innovation and development within companies while simultaneously strengthening the competitiveness of the entire industry. VTT is responsible for implementing this work package.
