SmartRail 3rd Innovation phase

Project: Business Finland project

Project Details

Description

SmartRail Ecosystem’s 3rd Innovation Phase (SmartRail #3) is a continuum consistent with the SmartRail Ecosystem road map for previous innovation phases 1 and 2, which have built mainly technology and service innovations related to the tram itself and have developed tools to support the design and implementation of autonomous tram (focused on the vehicle itself).

In the 3rd Innovation phase, ecosystem’s foundation and offering is expanded with next-generation mobility services connected to the tramway, and with the required scalable technology and data solutions to implement a sustainable, energy-efficient and securely autonomized future of urban transport (including concepts for a realtime and predictive situational awareness of the future transport system). This will strengthen the vitality and robustness of the SmartRail Ecosystem and the building of a joint offering to meet the global challenges of the dual transition (digital & green) and the opportunities it presents in export markets.

SmartRail#3 is implemented as part of Tietoevry's Veturi road map to accelerate the development and export of internationally scalable and amplified solutions. The SmartRail#3 Co-Innovation project involves Cinia Oy, Finnpark Oy, GIM Oy, Nodeon Finland Oy, iQ Payments Oy (PayiQ), Solita Oy, Tietoevry Oy, Varala Engineering Oy, Tampere University and VTT. In addition, Skoda Transtech, the City of Tampere and the Finnish Transport and Communications Agency Traficom participate in the project as stakeholders.
