Project Details
Description
Advances in communication technologies and electronics make the employment of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) more attractive and accessible in various applications. Nowadays, UAVs are utilized in cinematography, forensics, communication and many other areas, and commence to play compelling role in people’s everyday life. However, the emerging of novel applications and services is obstructed by the lack of knowledge about the behavior of the air-to-ground radio wave propagation channel at mmWave frequencies. In this project, we are going to study radio wave propagation between UAVs and other intelligent robots and vehicles. UAVs are envisioned as an important component of 5G and beyond networks. Developing new applications is a part of this project. UAVs can provide invaluable support and additional vision for first responders (e.g., police, firefighters) who should arrive at the scene of an emergency. In addition, autonomously driving cars would benefit from the UAV assistance.
