XcARet: XAI-based Green Security Architecture for Resilient and Intelligent Open Radio Access Network Architecture in 6G

Project: Academy of Finland project

Project Details

Description

The open radio access networks or O-RAN architectures are gaining a higher popularity in 6th generation wireless research. ORAN allows programmability and automated network management with closed loop operations in the radio access networks and the accessibility to different device vendors. Since many data flows are engaged to enable automation in O-RAN and the devices are coming from multiple vendors, intelligent and yet transparent security operations are important to manage. When the security configurations are bulky, the power consumption is higher and they may not support the power profiles of all devices. Therefore, it is paramount to develop the security solutions and managing the security policies, considering the energy availability and the level of security required by the network. In XcARet project we develop automated but explainable security solutions and manage them in an energy saving manner to make an intelligence and energy efficiency for open RAN architecture.
