Abstract

In this paper, we shed light on the prospects for 5G by giving an overview to the 5G technology enablers in transition towards 6G. We also discuss about the challenges the power system applications pose to the 5G, and the features in 5G that we see benefitting communication services designed for utilities. The paper also shows measurement results for the most waited 5G feature, the network slicing, and briefly considers business and its effects on the deployment of the services.
