    Abstract

Low noise dc SQUIDs based on a Nb/Al-AlOx/Nb Josephson junction technology have been developed. The design has been optimized for improved control of the resonances. An eight-level process has been used for device fabrication. Flux noise levels of 2.8×10−7Φ0/√Hz  at 1 kHz and 1.5×10−6Φ0/√Hz at 1 Hz have been measured for an integrated SQUID magnetometer having 3 μm2 junctions, a 12-turn input coil, and a dc SQUID inductance Ldc =11 pH.
