    Abstract

A model for estimating property loss risk in building fires has been developed to provide a practical risk assessment tool for rescue services. The model produces building-specific risk values that are based on fire statistics of similarsized buildings of the same building category. The estimates are presented in map format to support regional rescue services departments in the identification of regions of high property loss risk within their area.
