    Abstract

Active Control of Sound (ACS) is a promising method for noise control. However, only a few applications are commercially attractive. One of the main problems has been the non-availability of good actuators for anti-sound production. Flat EMFi sensors and actuators can be easitly implemented in ACS applicaitons, where large surfaces are to be covered with sensors and/or anti-sound producing elements. Some promising results of the use of EMFi-technology in ACS are presented. Application areas include the reduction of noise entering the cabins of cars and trains and the increase of sound transmission loss in building elements.
