Abstract

This paper presents a design of an active transmitarray operating at E-band (71-76 GHz) frequency range. The antenna is implemented as a stack of multilayer printed circuit boards with a horn antenna as a source. Active beamforming is achieved via SiGe BiCMOS vector modulator MMICs, which provide digital control of amplitude and phase for each array element. Beamsteering capability of active 8×5 transmitarray with EIRP of 35 dBm is demonstrated with measured E-and H-plane radiation patterns at 71.5 GHz.
