Abstract

The wireless multimedia terminals are integrating a large number of different advanced technologies. The terminal system must include technologies for e.g. access, applications, and data manipulation. Moreover there is need to support multiple technologies in the same terminal, or at very least guarantee that the R&D work done for a particular terminal platform is reusable for other products as well. In this paper we summarize some of our early results in the adaptive codec and operating environment research. Large part of the software is written in Java to test platform independence.
