Abstract

This paper reports results of development and piloting of an agent based news delivery service. A key interest in the work has been the applicability of mobile and intelligent software agents in telecommunications applications. In order to gain insight and practical experience, the agents were applied to implement personal mobility and service selection functions. Mobile agents were used to provide a roaming user with services subscribed from his local service provider domain. Dynamic service negotiation was implemented by exploiting both mobility and agent intelligence. The news delivery service was integrated, tested and installed in a pilot network, where it was promoted for test usage. This paper presents and discusses the feedback and results received from software developers, end users and the performance measurements made.
