    Abstract

Societies are ageing globally, which comes with challenges concerning healthcare and economics. Active and healthy ageing (AHA) is a method to improve older people’s quality of life, reduce capacity concerns on healthcare, and enhance economics. ProEIPAHA project appointed three concrete goals to improve AHA: two more healthy life years, maximum independence and working as long as desired. By systemic modelling, we dis-covered that appropriate products and services, preventive actions and economic growth are important determi-nants for achieving the goals. Silver markets are in a central role to tackle demographic challenges, because they enable better utilisation of appropriate products and preventive actions. Silver markets have also a direct effect on economics. However, reduced physical and cognitive capabilities, lack of digital and health literacy and inade-quate market awareness are currently effective silver market barriers.
