Abstract

An acoustic attenuator (10) for damping pres-sure vibrations in an exhaust system of an engine, theacoustic attenuator comprising a body (16) which is pro-vided with a gas inlet (18) and a gas outlet (20) at oppositeends thereof, and a gas passage duct (24) arranged be-tween the inlet and the outlet inside the body, where inthe body encloses a first resonator chamber and a sec-ond resonator chamber. The body is provided with a com-mon inlet (34) communicating with the first and the sec-ond resonator chambers (36,38), and the resonatorchambers (36,38) are arranged to extend from the com-mon inlet (34) towards the opposite ends (25) of the body(16).
