An information model as a basis for hypermedia-based plant documentation

This paper addresses the production, use, and maintainability of hypermedia-based on-line documentation in industrial plants. The proposed method for addressing all these issues is the utilisation of an information mode. This paper describes how an information model can be used for structuring the documentation, for automatic generation of hypertext links, and as a basis for the design of user interfaces that support information retrieval. The tools for modelling and automatic link generation are briefly described. Two case studies utilizing the WWW for the implementation of on-line documentation are discussed.
