Abstract

To compare the effect of different fractionation schemes for different tissues in radiation therapy three models have been widely used. The models are called the nominal standard dose (NSD) by Ellis with its modifications, the composite multitarget (Cam) model by Cohen and the linear quadratic model (LQ) by Kellerer and Rossi. However, parameter values for different tissues and end-points have been determined mostly for the LQ-model. In this report the theoretical basis of the LQ model, its parameter values for different tissues and end-points and clinical computer application are presented.
