Abstract

A design procedure for contra-rotating propellers using non-linear actuator disk theory is presented. In the first stage of the design procedure the diameter of the forward propeller, and rate of rotation are determined. This propulsion estimate is based on already available information of optimum designs of the present theory. In the second stage the non-linear actuator disk calculations are carried out, and the pitch distributions and the induced velocities in the two propeller planes are obtained.
