    Abstract

Thermography is the most traditional field of infrared imaging. We have a high performance infrared camera and we are using it in lock-in thermography as well as in different kinds of strain measurements and spectral imaging, e.g. the detection of methane, which is important in environmental sector. We are expecting new scientific results on application fields mentioned above. Speed of frame capture, high sen-sitivity and resolution of high performance infrared cameras allows us to make accurate lock-in thermog-raphy measurements of electrical station components. A test was made with 446 Hz frame rate and the thermal effect of 50 Hz phase current on a certain component was accurately detected. Surface emissivity is a very important variable in infrared imaging. We are also building a setup for defining the emissivity of different kinds of surfaces.
