Abstract
A binaural system for the evaluation of sound quality is
evaluated and documented in this thesis. The system was
developed in the Acoustics Laboratory of the Helsinki
University of Technology and it is based on binaural
techniques. It consists of tools and methods on how to
record, edit using digital signal processing, and present
sound samples binaurally to many subjects simultaneously.
The tools are evaluated using conventional measurement
methods and by listening tests. Also, a technique was
developed in this thesis using real (human) heads to make
binaural recordings. This is compared to artificial head
techniques.
