Abstract
Global fibre demand is in accelerated growth, but production of new textile fibres cannot be increased sustainably. Textile waste is also a huge problem around the globe. Therefore, textile recycling is an attractive option to resolve both of these problems - to find alternative raw materials source as well as to reduce the amount of textile waste. Future textile sector will be facing requirement for transition from linear economy towards more circular economy. Overall goal of circular textile ecosystem is to maintain the value of materials as high as possible, with minimum environmental impact. Effective recycling of textile materials in industrial scale require building of new processes and technologies as part of a new kind of business ecosystem. However, circular economy is not only recycling, but include also wide range of activities lengthening life-span of materials. New emerging circular ecosystems will provide opportunities for new kind of businesses.
