    Abstract

Pilferage and theft cause problems for logistic providers during transport and handling of goods. For efficient detection, unauthorised access to the cargo space has to be identified. New camera and communication technologies bring the possibility to inform logistic service providers in real time of unauthorised access. A solution using mobile cameras and cellular communication has been tested and assessed for international transport. Modern mobile cameras allow detecting and possibly identifying the intruders, but further development regarding miniaturisation of the devices and support of location sensing and roaming is needed and possible privacy concerns in global environment handled
