Abstract
This paper brings forward the viewpoints of both sides in the asymmetric
relationship between supplier and large global customer in product
development. A framework of four different roles of suppliers is built and
defined. Four case companies are analyzed and presented as examples of
different roles. The perspective of the analysis is the challenges and success
factors of the asymmetric relationship in product development, especially in
design and production of prototypes.
