Abstract

This paper brings forward the viewpoints of both sides in the asymmetric relationship between supplier and large global customer in product development. A framework of four different roles of suppliers is built and defined. Four case companies are analyzed and presented as examples of different roles. The perspective of the analysis is the challenges and success factors of the asymmetric relationship in product development, especially in design and production of prototypes.
