Abstract
Repair of water-damaged buildings cause often massive
emissions of harmful airborne microbes. To prevent the
exposures of the occupants safe repair and drying methods
were evaluated. The work area was sealed and maintained
under negative pressure by a recently developed air
handling unit that can clean and dry air. The development
work has been done in co-operation of VTT and Hesasbest
Ltd, which is the largest company in Finland specialised
in asbestos removal and repair of water-damaged
buildings. Experiments made during repair work have shown
that with the new method very high control efficiencies
can be achieved.
