Abstract
In order to tackle two major challenges, namely maintaining Europe’s long-term competitiveness in nuclear technologies and bringing knowledge from the nuclear sector to other industries and healthcare, the NOMATEN Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Multifunctional Materials for Industrial and Medical Applications was formed as a result of the European Union Teaming for Excellence project. Founded in September 2018, the NOMATEN CoE is a partnership between the National Centre for Nuclear Research (NCBJ) in Poland, the French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission (CEA), and the Technical Research Centre of Finland Ltd (VTT). The main goal of the NOMATEN CoE is to conduct advanced research that will result in the development of modern heat-, corrosion- and radiation-resistant materials for industrial applications, as well as new advanced solutions in the field of radiopharmaceuticals for medical therapies. International collaboration, knowledge exchange, and dissemination are all essential parts of this action.
