N2 - Service research is accumulating rapidly, and an increasing number of scholars from different disciplines are contributing to this research. Interest in services has also grown among practitioners, implying that policymakers and managers of private companies and public organizations expect applicable research results. VTT aims to answer these expectations while simultaneously strengthening its role as a well-known research partner in the scientific community. In the following, we summarize current and emerging topics and approaches in VTT's service research. In order to link our work to more general efforts in the international research community, we first present a brief overview of general trends in this research area.
