Abstract
This paper presents comparisons of measured and calculated antenna pattern distortions caused by two perpendicular boards in the nearfield region of an antenna at frequency 1.96 GHz. Two different antennas were used: an array of two dipoles above a ground plane, and a λ/4 patch antenna. The calculations were carried out using commercial software based on the FDTD (Finite Difference Time Domain) method. The results illustrate the accuracy of the FDTD models needed with the two antennas and give knowledge of the distortions caused by nearby walls on the radiation patterns of the two antennas.
