    Abstract

This paper discusses simulated faults in electrical control signal, control valve sticking faults, and faults produced by inside or outside leaks of system. The studied system is a hydraulic cylinder drive of a paper machine reeling unit. The cylinder is controlled by servo solenoid valve. The simulation was performed by using a semi.empiric model of the valve. Faults were studied in terms of valve position changes, fluid pressure fluctuations and flow variations during the different work phases of the cylinder.
