    Abstract

These are the Proceedings of the 2nd International Conference on Concurrent Engineering in Construction 25 - 27 August 1999, Espoo, Finland, organised by TG33 - Concurrent Engineering & VTT Building Technology. The themes of this conference are: . Foundations and principles of concurrent engineering . Information management and technologies . Concurrent engineering environments . Applications and tools . Research projects on concurrent engineering . Process and enterprise modelling . Industry case studies and experiences The importance of CE in construction is evident from the fact that this volume contains contributions from many leading experts around the globe. CE is a way of life that construction organisations need to adopt in order to stay alive and competitive. In order to ensure a high standard of papers a rigid review process was enforced. The output of this process is reflected in the quality of the papers in this volume. Not only do these papers contribute to our understanding of the challenges the new millennium presents for concurrent engineering in construction, but also advise us on how to cope with these challenges in an efficient manner.
