Abstract

Chemical pulp is needed for reinforcement purposes in the manufacture of wood-containing printing papers. The control of the refining of chemical pulp is critical to get required strength properties for the paper and to minimize the amount of reinforcement pulp. In this paper, results of the investigations of production line pulp refining are presented. The target was to determine preconditions to develop control of pulp refuting. The analysis is based on wide-scale long-term processes and quality measurements from different refining lines.
