    Abstract

Neste Chemicals and the Technical Research Centre of Finland have been collaborating on a project to identify the processing factors which influence styrene emission during spray-up of gel coats. It was concluded that emission of styrene can be reduced by selecting an optimal spraying set-up configuration. Spraying pressure should be as low as possible, the distance between the spray nozzle and the mould as short as possible and the nozzle should be as large as possible.
