Abstract
The aim of the Humanist Task Force A is to define driver needs by analysis of driver behaviour, errors and functional abilities. In addition, the needs of different driver groups should be identified. These are the main goals of the first task A.1. To find the preliminary definitions of the driver and more generally, user groups, the data were collected by a survey on recent and on-going studies from the task force A partners during spring 2004. In addition, the First Driver Needs conference was held in Lisbon on 3rd and 4th June, 2004. The conference was preliminary aimed at finding the groups with special needs for ITS, but the perspective was widened to cover the whole area of driver and traveller needs. The conference was a success – it gathered together over 100 participants both from the Humanist consortium and external experts. Altogether 20 presentations were given during the conference and the papers of all presentations are presented in the attachments of this deliverable.
