    Abstract

    VTT and MARINTEK co-operation in maritime sector started with this research project "Construction and intervention vessel for the Arctic operation. The Arctic region and challenges for offshore service vessels working in cold climate regions are presented. Aspects concerning safety at sea as well as operation in the Arctic areas are described in general. The case study - CIVARCTIC vessel - is presented, including the metocean data, business case, design and environmental matters. Acknowledgement to other project partners: Statoil, STXOSV, Aker Arctic Technology and NTNU.
