Abstract

Cold-formed or light-gauge steel (LGS) profiles are traditionally used as secondary structural elements of buildings, including industrial applications (e.g. purlins, side-rails, sheeting). More recently, the popularity of light industrial buildings is also increasing, where light-gauge profiles are used as primary structural elements. Several configurations have been developed, starting with frame-like applications where LGS members are replacing hot-rolled profiles. But, LGS based truss systems have also been successfully used, increasing the possible spans covered. One rarely applied, but increasingly studied, configuration are LGS based deep beams with corrugated sheet web.
