Abstract

Regenerator and riser reactor are the units of the fluidized catalyst cracking plant where the fluidization phenomenon takes place. Measurements of axial density profiles of these units were performed with a gamma logging equipment consisting of 0.74 GBq (20 mCi) 60Co radiation source and a NaI(Tl) scintillation detector. The axial density profile of the riser was also determined using data from residence time distributions measured using an activated cracking catalyst as a tracer.
