Determination of low cycle fatigue resistance in spectrum straining

Abstract

A new method for evaluating the low cycle fatigue resistance in spectrum straining is presented. The service stress-strain response and the low-cycle fatigue resistance can be determined from spectrum strained smooth axial fatigue specimens. The method is an integral part of the local strain approach for fatigue life prediction, and it gives the most reliable material parameters with a minimum number of tests. The method has been experimentally verified.
