Abstract
Finland is ranked amongst the most competitive economies in the world.
Tekes, the National Technology Agency of Finland (http://www.tekes.fi),
operates as the country's principal public promoter and financer of research
and development. This short article presents one such past initiative, the
Global Project Business (GPB 1998-2001) technology programme from Tekes. The
programme had an overall budget of 12 million Euros, covering 35 industrial
and research projects. Its main objective was towards the definition of new
business practices for global project business and the simultaneous launch of
new commercial products into the market. This objective was successfully
satisfied during the time period of the programme. Some salient features of
GPB are described in this article.
