N2 - Human Systems Integration (HSI) integrates the knowledge and skills of different areas of Human and Organizational Factors in order to support various levels of systems engineering and management. Our aim is to develop the first comprehensive and systematic human-system integration program for the Finnish Defence Forces. In the early phases of the project, we reviewed lessons learned from the existing human-system integration programs and interviewed experts both from the Defence Forces and the defence industry. The objective of the project is to develop a detailed guidance for HSI program execution and provide a checklist of human factors issues to consider during the acquisition process. In addition, cost-benefit guidance will be provided for the calculation of a project’s HSI costs, and a survey of human factors modelling and simulation tools will be conducted. The preliminary draft version of the program will be evaluated by applying it to a real-world acquisition scenario.
