Development of an Automated Vehicle as an Innovation Platform

Abstract

Automated driving technology offers new business opportunities for a wide range of organisations. Testing facilities, both test tracks and areas as well as test vehicles are required for testing new vehicle hardware and software components and novel mobility concepts. VTT has converted passenger cars for supporting the development of automated driving functions in an open and modular way, enabling collaboration partners to test new prototypes and concepts quickly. The paper gives several examples of the use cases developed by the vehicles.
