    Abstract

The INVETE project, which is sponsored by the IST-programme of the European Commission, has as its main objective to specify, develop and demonstrate an intelligent in-vehicle terminal (IVT) for both flexible (DRT, shared taxi) and regular (line-based) collective transport. The IVT is designed for different transport modes (bus, taxi), supports different external communication environments (GSM, private radio network) and various internal means of communications. The IVT provides a platform for an end customer supplier to develop customized applications. This paper describes the concept and the development of the IVT, and the innovative communication methods used by the termal.
